The New Slimline Internal Door by Aluco

Aluco continues to lead the way in steel-inspired aluminium glazing. Also launched at the 2025 Homebuilding and Renovating show was our new slimline internal door.

This is the slimmest, most streamlined internal door system we’ve ever created. It’s a brand new addition to our steel-look interior collection, designed for homeowners and designers who want an even cleaner, more minimal aesthetic—without compromising on style or performance.

WHY WE CREATED A NEW INTERNAL DOOR

One of the most recognisable features of an authentic steel internal door is the prominent lock body behind the lever handle. It’s a statement detail that instantly evokes a heritage or Art Deco aesthetic.

But not every project calls for this look. Some of our customers, architects and interior designers, especially those designing contemporary homes or streamlined interiors, prefer a simpler design.

Less projection, less detailing, and more focus on uninterrupted glass and slender framing.

That’s exactly what the new Aluco Slimline Internal Door delivers. It removes the lock body altogether, creating a pure push/pull system that’s slim, clean, and seamless.

A new aluminium internal door that looks like steel

The first thing you notice about our new internal door are it’s incredibly thin proportions and how close it looks to a real steel door. The door profiles are as thin as can be and complemented with our 20mm glazing bars, just like steel doors. There will be an option for a fully glazed version as well, with no bars.

As an internal door its designed to latch into place, dividing the space when needed or connecting your rooms with a fully open door.

And like everything Aluco, it’s designed and made here in the UK—using our own profiles, frames and components.

We no of no other UK-made door of this type, Any similar version are imported doors and not bespoke products.

WHAT MAKES THIS NEW INTERNAL DOOR DIFFERENT?

There is no visible handle or lock body. The slim lines of this door allow only for a beautifully thin pad handle on both sides.

Discreet, easy to use and working with the gorgeous steel-like profiles of the door sash and outer frame, this design creates you a door with idential sightlines all around the entire door set.

And when you do want your door closed. Secure catches locate on the sash and frame keeping the door in place until it’s ready to be used.

And like everything Aluco, it’s designed and made here in the UK—using our own profiles, frames and components.

We know of no other UK-made door of this type, Any similar versions are usually imported from Eastern Europe without the bespoke nature of our doors and without the service and product support in the event that it is required. Soon to join our luxurious Interior Collection, here are some more benefits of our new door:

  • No visible lock body for a cleaner, uninterrupted sightline
  • Ultra-slim aluminium profile for minimal visual weight
  • Suitable for hinged single or double doors
  • Fully compatible with side panels, toplights and partitions
  • Designed and made in the UK using our exclusive system
  • Purpose-built around the glass—no rattling or on-site glazing
  • Matches the aesthetics of our wider internal and external range

A MORE FLEXIBLE SOLUTION FOR MODERN INTERIORS

Until now, doors in this design were only available in steel, at substantial extral cost and lenghty lead times.

From ensuite bathrooms to bedrooms, from wardrobes to walk-in dressing areas—this new slimline internal door works just as well in compact layouts as it does in large, open-plan spaces.

When we previewed it at the show, people were asking us for all manner of ways it could be used in their homes, and in most cases the answer was yes. Hallway partition doors, cupboard doors, under-stairs, dressing areas, utility rooms and many more besides.

If you have the opening, our slimline door should work in it. You still benefit from no visible threshold and your floors, tiles or carpets run clear and uninterrupted.

The slimmer frame means more light and less obstruction—helping to open up interiors, while still delivering the character and elegance of a steel-inspired design.

Aluco internal doors, authentic, refined, enduring

While steel interior doors are beautiful, they remain costly and limited. Long lead times, welded manufacturing, and minimal flexibility often rule them out for most home projects.

Aluco Slimline Internal Doors give you all the aesthetic advantages—with more versatility, shorter lead times, and better prices. It’s even made around the glass to prevent the movement and rattle you get from other aluminium doors glazed on site.

Designed with precision. Manufactured in the UK. Hand-finished by us.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from the standard Aluco internal door?

This new version removes the feature lock body for a sleeker look. It’s a push/pull design ideal for those who want clean lines and no projection into the glass. You still benefit from no visible threshold and your floors, tiles or carpets run clear and uninterrupted.

Is the Slimline door available as a double door?

Yes, it’s suitable for both single and double hinged applications and works with side panels and toplights too.

Can I use this in a bathroom or ensuite

Absolutely. With the right glazing (such as obscure or reeded glass), this system is perfect for bathrooms, dressing areas and walk-in wardrobes. Bear in mind this is a latch only door and does not lock.

What Colours will be available

We are intending to offer this door in the popular black, grey and white colours. Any alternative colours would be subject to special order.

Is this door made in the UK?

Yes. Like all Aluco products, it is our own design, manufactured only by us in our Cambridgeshire factory, using our own exclusive profiles, components, and quality standards. It is hand-finished and luxurious like every Aluco product.

We wanted to invest on a quality set of doors as one of the main focal points in a rather large extension of our home. After doing some research we settled on Aluco. Our contact from start to finish was Kieran, who was so helpful, constructive and knowledgeable. When installed we were so pleased as the fit was perfect, the finish outstanding. Not only did we consider the quality better than other options we looked at, the cost was nowhere near them. So much that our window/door fitters that we used on the job are now looking at them as an alternative. A solid 5 out of 5 and would definitely use again.

I recently had 3 sets of ALUCO exterior crital styled steel framed doors fitted to my property as part of an ongoing renovation. After looking around at various options Aluco was the only manufacturer that I felt could deliver the style I was looking for. With most other companies I thought the design was bulky and not finished to the finesse Aluco has achieved . Based on my experience I can honestly thoroughly recommend this manufacturer and will look to use them again on any future projects
