White Steel-Look Doors for a Character Property

The homeowners were seeking doors that would sit comfortably alongside the Edwardian architecture of their home. With the neighbouring properties still retaining original sash windows, it was essential that any changes remained sympathetic to the property’s original design.

Workign closely with our installation partner, the solution was a distinctive set of steel look doors in white.

While the focus of this project was on the rear doors, it formed part of a wider renovation programme including new sash windows to the front elevation. By choosing Aluco for the doors, the homeowners were able to carry through the same level of attention to detail and quality across both sides of the property—bringing together design and functionality with one cohesive approach.

The chosen configuration includes a set of French-style doors with matching side panels, forming a balanced and understated rear elevation. And the complement the bifold doors on the left hand side perfect as well. On the exterior, the entire system is powder coated in white—blending with the traditional timber sash windows and softening the view from the garden.

Each door is glazed with 28mm double glazed units—toughened safety glass with a soft-coat low-emissivity coating, warm edge spacer bars, and argon gas fill. Hardware is chosen to reflect the architectural quality of the home. The doors are finished with solid brass Art Deco handles and colour-matched hinges, maintaining both heritage appeal and practical usability. A low threshold supports smooth access to the garden, while internal glazing and multipoint locking deliver discreet yet effective security.
